Great News! After lots
of on-line research, telephone calls and several site visits, we've located
what we think is the perfect place for our reunion festivities. Go on-line and check out the Bistro on the
Bayou! http://www.parcengland.com/BistroontheBayou.aspx Be sure and check out the reviews,
including one by Southern Living magazine.
The photos are on the glitzy side, but believe me, being
there in person feels very comfortable, and besides, we're all committed to a
"blue jean get together." No
cocktail dresses allowed!
Here are some of the things we liked about using the
Bistro...
- No separate charge for the venue itself, and we can use it as long as we wish!
- All costs (except the cash bar) are included in the catering fee, and though it seems a little high, they'll work with us and the menu is quite varied.
- Beautiful decor, so no decorating is needed.
- No hauling supplies, table set ups, clean up, nada, nothing. Work-free!
- Separate, but adjoined rooms for those that might want to watch the LSU-Florida game, and those that might want to visit. Both are very comfortable, very attractive.
- Nice hotel across the parking lot and though it's rather expensive for Alexandria, they will offer us rooms at $120 per night as long as we commit to at least five rooms. Bored spouses will love it!
Humongous thanks to Anita Saybe Ehlers, Ted Powell and Vicki Vanderlick Methvin for all of the work they did!
Like it! Close to the airport! I'll just walk and wheel my suitcase over...maybe?
