43 Years Later... Public Confession to Heinous Crime!

Last night at Tunk's Cypress Inn Paul Dupuis demanded the truth!   Who, he asked, had planted his dearly beloved Fiat across a railroad tie in the Menard Parking Lot?   One of the criminals stepped up to the plate, confessed and asked forgiveness...    But the Rat named names!   We know who you are...   And more importantly, Paul knows!

Woooo-Hoo!   Around 20 of us '69 Graduates (and several brave spouses) gathered last night to do some serious reunion planning and made a ton of progress.   Of course, lots of stories were told, and most of us gals that attended were big-eyed over the guy's stories of the old Menard Penal Colony!    As soon as Betty Jo Bellino Campo releases her photos, I'll send them on and will share our tentative schedule of events.

We have set the registration fee at $75 per graduate which will include a mighty fine Michael Paul Blank-designed t-shirt and a rowdy good time!  Spouses/partners/friends may accompany you for an additional $50.  Just so you know, this price is well within the range that the vast majority of you indicated you'd be willing to pay when you filled out the survey I sent several months ago.

Ted Powell, Herbie Way, etc. will be working on an easy way to accept your moola, and I'll let you know when to send it on.   Meanwhile.....

Happy Weekend Everybody!

Prizes, Awards and Donations?

Lots of class reunions give away prizes for things like the person who traveled farthest, who had the most children, and so on.   Wouldn't it be fun if we could come up with some oddball categories?   And prizes to match?

What brought this on?   Well, Paul Dupuis posted a link on FaceBook to The Uniques playing All These Things.   I checked on Amazon, and a CD of their greatest hits is available.    Might be a hoot of a prize for the "greatest lover" in our class!

On the other hand, it might also make for a nice auction item.  Do you think our class might want to do something like that to raise money for a donation to Menard, or to the Sisters of Divine Providence?   Did you know that our wonderful Sister Cecile Clare Vanderlick is in San Antonio in the convent's nursing home?   She and her com padres could use a little help for incidentals like stamp, writing paper, and personal items.    What a nice thing we could do for them, don'cha think?

We have a venue!

Great News!   After lots of on-line research, telephone calls and several site visits, we've located what we think is the perfect place for our reunion festivities.     Go on-line and check out the Bistro on the Bayou!   http://www.parcengland.com/BistroontheBayou.aspx  Be sure and check out the reviews, including one by Southern Living magazine.

The photos are on the glitzy side, but believe me, being there in person feels very comfortable, and besides, we're all committed to a "blue jean get together."  No cocktail dresses allowed!

Here are some of the things we liked about using the Bistro...

  • No separate charge for the venue itself, and we can use it as long as we wish!
  •  All costs (except the cash bar) are included in the catering fee, and though it seems a little high, they'll work with us and the menu is quite varied.
  • Beautiful decor, so no decorating is needed.
  • No hauling supplies, table set ups, clean up, nada, nothing.   Work-free!
  • Separate, but adjoined rooms for those that might want to watch the LSU-Florida game, and those that might want to visit.   Both are very comfortable, very attractive.
  • Nice hotel across the parking lot and though it's rather expensive for Alexandria, they will offer us rooms at $120 per night as long as we commit to at least five rooms.   Bored spouses will love it!

Humongous thanks to Anita Saybe Ehlers, Ted Powell and Vicki Vanderlick Methvin for all of the work they did!
